Microsoft has announced that DirectAccess support will be deprecated in future Windows releases, encouraging users to transition to Always On VPN. This change seems to be impacting the latest feature update, version 24H2 of Windows 11, as users—primarily in enterprise settings—are reporting issues with DirectAccess functionality after upgrading. While Microsoft has addressed some bugs, including those related to Defender onboarding, the DirectAccess issue has not received significant attention in official communications. Some users have suggested that a Registry tweak to disable UDP for RDP did not resolve the problem, indicating that the issue has been ongoing since Insider testing.
